David Abbott career includes time spent working for third party processors, banks, payment Gateways and as CEO of his own payment consultancy business. Qualified in Networks and Cryptography, David joined First Data Corporation/American Express in the UK in 1988. After working in account management, product management and Sales for First Data, David sold and subsequently managed the introduction of the FDC Equation and FICO Triad BSAC systems into Saudi Arabia as 'Head of Cards' for Riyad Bank.
Returning to the UK David managed the HSBC account for First Data, at that time FDC's largest global client. Working for eONE Global (M&A activites) through the DotCom Boom with Goldman Sachs, BCG and General Atlantic Partners, David took over as CEO of Securetrading.com growing this UK payment gateways turnover from GBP100M to GBP 1Bn a year in less than two years.
During this timeframe David was also a founder board member of www.getsafeonline.org. More recently David has been consulting in the Acquiring, Gaming, and Prepaid sector. David is currently engaged in the introduction of Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) and Multi Currency Processing (MCP) services to the CEMEA region for Planet Payment. Planet Payment supply second generation DCC and MCP services to Acquiring Banks, supporting operations in the POS, Web and Call centre environments. Planet are currently active in the Asia Pacific, EU, CEMEA and US markets as a full third party acquirer processor where they are generating incremental income for Banks and Merchants from existing business streams.
